![]() Once we enabled QuickSync we saw 2m 1s from the Sandy Bridge processor and just 1m 35s from the Ivy Bridge processor - meaning you should be able to encode a two-hour AVCHD file to play on your phone in around 30 minutes. The Intel Core i7-3960X, for instance, has six cores and will give you around 30 per cent better performance in CPU-encoding mode. With the Ivy Bridge Core i7-3770K processor the same test finished in 4m 7s. As you can certainly see, the QuickSync technology managed to cut the time needed for this task from 101 seconds to 30 seconds when using an Intel Core i5 2500K processor. With QuickSync disabled and using the Sandy Bridge Core i7-2600K processor, set to a 3.9GHz Turbo Boost, we converted a six-minute 1080p AVCHD video file to iPhone 4 H.264 format in 4m 18s. To test the improved QuickSync, we used Cyberlink's MediaEspresso 6.5 video conversion software. This led to a huge overall score of 137, compared to 122 from the Sandy Bridge processor, which, again, had to throttle back a quarter of the way through. Once again, even using the small stock Intel cooler, the processor managed to get all the way through our benchmarks without throttling back from its maximum Turbo Boost speed. We raised the Turbo Boost ceiling from 3.9GHz to 4.3GHz on both processors to make a 10% overclock. Otherwise, use the Intel® UHD brand. The new chip also overclocks well. Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics only: to use the Intel® Iris® Xe brand, the system must be populated with 128-bit (dual channel) memory. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Please refer to the Launch Date for market availability. Please contact OEM for the BIOS that includes the latest Processor configuration update. It clocks at 3.6 - 4 GHz and can run 8 threads at once thanks to HyperThreading. Functionality, performance, and other benefits of this feature may vary depending on system configuration. Intel Core i7-4790 The Intel Core i7-4790 is a high end quad-core desktop processor using the Haswell architecture. Please check with the system vendor to determine if your system delivers this feature, or reference the system specifications (motherboard, processor, chipset, power supply, HDD, graphics controller, memory, BIOS, drivers, virtual machine monitor-VMM, platform software, and/or operating system) for feature compatibility. ‡ This feature may not be available on all computing systems.
